Institution bans wearing of berets, ripped jeans, others

The management of CRUTECH has banned the use of school bags, berets, more to curb cultism.

The declaration was made by the schools' management following the rise in cultist activities, Daily Post reports.

The varsity also banned rug sacks, branded shirts, boots, items “appearing to be gangster-related”.

Daily Post reports that the school's management has also ordered students staying outside the school campus, to leave the school premises as soon as the examination for the day is over.

It also placed a ban on night classes, adding that light will not be supplied to the classes and workshops after 5pm.

According to the reports, two students were also suspended indefinitely over cult-related activities.

The students have been identified as Arikpo Arikpo Ofem with registration number 14/EGC/078 from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department and Felix Udeme Umoren with registration number 14/CSC/056 from the Computer Science department and are both 200 level students.

Over the weekend, no fewer than five students were killed during a clash between two rival cult groups.

Daily Post reports that six security vans have been mobilised to the school, patrolling the premises to avoid further damage.
